Your favourite book?
I studied English Lit at university and then worked at Penguin Books for 12 years, so you would think I would have a quick answer to this. But the honest one is that the answer to this changes all the time! My favourite one of recent memory would be A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. I read it about 4 years ago and still think about it regularly. As an enormous geek though, one of my longstanding favourites would have to be The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Where do you get your inspiration form?
I’ve got two young boys who are a constant source of inspiration and exhaustion, but mainly the former…on most days. We also relocated to Yorkshire about two years ago and nothing refreshes me more than a cycle round the Dales and a swim in the Wharfe (usually followed by a very rapid exit to the nearest warm pub).
