About Henry Jeffreys
Jeffreys began his writing career under the pseudonym Blake Pudding, co-founding the London Review of Breakfasts and contributing to their Breakfast Bible. He soon transitioned to writing under his own name, establishing himself as a leading authority on drinks through his blog, Henry’s World of Booze. He also serves as Features Editor for the Master of Malt website.
Jeffreys is the author of the acclaimed “Empire of Booze,” which won Debut Drink Book of the Year at the Fortnum & Mason Awards. His subsequent works, “The Home Bar” and “The Cocktail Dictionary,” further cemented his expertise. In August 2023, he released “Vines in a Cold Climate” (Allen & Unwin), a fascinating account of the English wine industry’s evolution over the past thirty years and the visionaries behind its success. The late Russell Norman praised it as “the best book on wine I’ve read.”
Jeffreys regularly contributes to The Guardian, Telegraph, Spectator, The Lady, and The Oldie, covering topics on books, drinks, and popular culture. His collaboration with the BBC includes serving as a wine critic for their Good Food Wine Club with Laithwaites and judging the BBC Food and Farming Awards. He has appeared on CNBC, Sunday with Michael Portillo on GB News, and The Rest is History podcast.
As an engaging public speaker, Jeffreys has presented at events like the Rye Arts Festival, Culture Bite, The Restaurant Show, and the Spirit of Christmas Fair at London Olympia. Internationally, he has spoken at events in Portugal for renowned port companies such as Taylors, Croft, Fonseca, and Krohn.
