About Duncan Scott MBE

Duncan Scott is celebrated as Scotland’s most decorated Olympian and Great Britain’s most successful Olympic swimmer. With a remarkable collection of two gold and six silver Olympic medals, Duncan achieved most of this success while pursuing a degree in business and sports studies at the University of Stirling.

Duncan first made his mark on the international swimming stage at just 16 years old, winning a silver medal in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay for Team Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The following year, he dominated the European Games, securing three golds and three silvers, establishing himself as Great Britain’s most decorated athlete at the event. His World Championships debut in 2015 added a gold medal in the 4x200m Freestyle relay to his growing accolades.

In 2016, Duncan’s prowess was solidified at the Rio Olympics, where he earned two silver medals in the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle and 4x100m Medley relays, competing against the formidable USA team led by Michael Phelps. His fifth-place finish in the 100m Freestyle also set a new British record.

Duncan continued to excel, winning multiple medals at the 2017 World Championships and becoming Scotland’s most successful swimmer in Commonwealth Games history at the 2018 Gold Coast event with six medals. His momentum carried into the 2019 World Championships and the International Swimming League, where he played a key role in the London Roar team’s success.

Despite the challenges posed by the 2020 pandemic, Duncan maintained his form, setting new British records and winning medals at the European Championships and Tokyo 2020 Olympics. His achievements earned him an MBE in 2022. After overcoming illness, Duncan returned to top form, making history at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and continuing his success into 2023, setting his sights on further glory at the Paris 2024 Olympics
