About Dr Paul Sinha
Paul Sinha began his journey into comedy as a break from his rigorous studies while working as a junior doctor. Balancing his medical career, he became a practising GP and earned a nomination for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award. Performing stand-up while working as a locum in East London’s NHS, Paul’s experiences on the frontline provided rich material for his acts.
Paul’s comedy is characterised by his relaxed, friendly storytelling style. He masterfully blends wry observations on life and society with sharp one-liners and humorous anecdotes from his medical career. His unique perspective and wit have made him a beloved figure in the comedy world.
Transitioning from medicine to media, Paul is a frequent voice on BBC Radio 4 and 5Live, where he showcases his knowledge and passion for current affairs and sports, particularly cricket and football. His radio credits include The News Quiz, Just A Minute, The Now Show, and Fighting Talk. Paul has also created and hosted several radio documentaries, including The Sinha Test and The Sinha Games, which explore the intersection of sport and national identity. His series, History Revision, delves into unusual yet significant historical events.
Paul’s quizzing prowess is well-known; he regularly ranks among the UK’s top 20 best quizzers. He achieved a lifelong dream by appearing on special editions of University Challenge and Mastermind. He is perhaps best known as ‘The Sinnerman’ on ITV’s hit quiz show The Chase. In addition to competing, Paul writes and hosts quizzes and is a published author. His book, The Real British Citizenship Test: What You Really Need to Know to be a UK Citizen, offers a comedic take on British identity and stereotypes.
As a speaker, Paul Sinha brings a wealth of experience and humour, making him an engaging and insightful choice for events.
