Billy Billingham

Billy Billingham is a distinguished military leader and television personality with over 20 years of experience serving in the British Armed Forces. Billy began his career in 1983 with the Parachute Regiment, holding key roles such as Patrol Commander and training instructor. In 1991, he passed selection and joined the elite SAS (Special Air Service) as a Mountain Troop specialist, where he was responsible for planning and executing strategic operations worldwide, including in Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and Africa. His expertise extends across various special forces disciplines, from hostage rescues to counter-terrorism.

During his service, Billy received numerous accolades, including the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery and an MBE, presented by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. His diverse skillset includes certifications as an SF and Counter Terrorist Sniper Instructor, Advanced Evasive Driving Instructor, and a Combat Survival Instructor, among many others.

After his military career, Billy transitioned into the private sector, working as a bodyguard for A-list celebrities, including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss, and Tom Cruise. His exceptional leadership and military experience led him to television, where he currently serves as Chief Instructor on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins, testing civilians and celebrities through intense special forces-style challenges. He is also a Directing Staff (DS) member on Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, where celebrities face gruelling challenges based on SAS selection.
