About Briony May Williams
Briony rose to fame in 2018 as a contestant on “The Great British Bake Off,” where she showcased her baking skills and creativity throughout nine intense weeks on Channel 4. Reaching the semi-finals, she quickly became a fan favourite, captivating audiences with her humour, warmth, and resourcefulness.
In recognition of her influence, Briony was named on The Shaw Trust’s Disability Power 100 List in both 2021 and 2022, highlighting her impact as one of the UK’s most influential disabled individuals.
Since her Bake Off success, Briony has become a familiar face on television. She currently co-hosts “Escape to the Country” (BBC One) and “Food Unwrapped” (Channel 4). Her other appearances include “Coast to Coast Food Festival,” “Morning Live,” “Would I Lie To You?,” “Celebrity Mastermind,” and many more. Notably, she won “The Great Christmas Bake Off” on Channel 4, further solidifying her status in the baking world.
Beyond television, Briony has contributed regularly to Asda’s Good Living and Bristol Life magazines with her baking columns. Her collaborations with brands like FitBit, Amazon Prime Video, and KitchenAid, as well as appearances at various food festivals, have expanded her influence.
Briony actively supports charitable causes as an ambassador for Reach, Bristol Mind, and Paul’s Place. In 2020, she completed a 5km run for Sport Relief and has provided recipes for Comic Relief’s fundraising efforts.
A Bristol native, Briony enjoys outdoor activities and running, having completed several 10k runs and even half marathons. She holds a degree in Spanish and French from Durham University and a teaching qualification from the University of Bristol, showcasing her diverse talents beyond baking.
