Hailing from Glasgow, Jamie’s journey began in his early teens when he was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a progressive degenerative retinal disease that will eventually lead to total blindness. But, rather than succumbing to the hardships of his disability, Jamie embraces a different approach. He remarks, “While it’s easy to find the misery in disability, it’s much more interesting to find the fun in it.”
He can be seen as Ronnie Scot in all three series of the hit BBC One Scotland sit-com‘The Scotts’. In 2022, he won the prestigious Grierson award for ’ Best Presenter’ for the BBC 2 documentary he fronted called ‘Blind Ambition’.
He’s written and performed two series ‘Life on Blink’ for Radio 4 and has been a guest on Radio4’s the Now Show, Museum of Curiosity, Rosy Jones Box Ticker and Fred at the Stand. He also wrote a 30-minute comedy-drama ‘Blind Sided’ for Radio 4 Extra starring himself, Pippa Evans, and Zoe Lyons.He’s spoken at the Oxford Student Union, for the Moth podcast, and written articles for The Guardian and Evening Times. He has brought seven critically acclaimed shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and is currently writing his eighth. He appears in comedy festivals and clubs up and down the country.
