About Kate Humble
At 18, Kate left school and home, choosing to work a series of odd jobs for a year to fund her travels across Africa. This experience, she claims, taught her far more than she could have learned at university. Upon returning to the UK, she landed her first job in television as a runner, where she met Producer/Director Ludo Graham, whom she married in 1992.
Kate’s passion for travel led to her first published article in The Telegraph in 1996. That same year, she secured her first role at the BBC as a researcher on ‘Animal Hospital’ and later on ‘The Holiday Programme.’ On just her second day in the Holiday office, the programme’s editor asked if she had ever presented before. Kate’s initial response was a firm ‘No,’ accompanied by a declaration that she had no desire to do so. Despite this, she has spent the last two decades presenting programmes and writing articles and books, becoming a familiar face and voice in British media.
In 2007, Kate and Ludo moved to a smallholding in Wales, where they live surrounded by a variety of feathered and furry livestock and their dogs. In 2011, they established ‘Humble by Nature,’ a working farm in the Wye Valley. Kate continues to share her love for rural life through her television series Escape to the Farm, where viewers can go behind the scenes on the farm with Kate and Farmer Tim.
