About Lara Ricote
Lara Ricote is a dynamic Mexican-American-Venezuelan stand-up comedian and writer whose debut show, GRL/LATNX/DEF, won the prestigious Best Newcomer Award at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She also claimed the 2021 Funny Women Stage Award, solidifying her reputation as one of comedy’s most exciting new voices. Known for her “razor-sharp goofball” style, The Guardian praised Lara’s work as a “riotously inventive show that blurs notions of race, gender, and disability.”
Since breaking into the UK comedy scene in 2021, Lara has appeared on popular British television programs like Mel Giedroyc’s Unforgivable, Question Team, QI, Alan Davies’ As Yet Untitled, and Live at the Apollo. Her comedy, performed in both Spanish and English, has taken her to stages across the UK, Europe, and Argentina.
Now based in Amsterdam, Lara continues to produce and perform comedy, creating shows and sketches with a global perspective. She has opened for renowned comedians Maria Bamford and Hannah Gadsby, showcasing her talent for blending humor with thoughtful insights on cultural identity and inclusivity.
With a passion for environmental sustainability and awareness around deaf and disability issues, Lara is an in-demand performer and speaker for events focused on these themes. Her distinctive style, vibrant personality, and boundary-pushing humor make her an influential voice in modern comedy.
