About Nicky Moffatt CBE

Nicky leverages her extensive experience to assist companies, including prominent UK, multinational, and global enterprises, in enhancing their leadership capabilities and talent pipelines.

Her profound leadership insights stem from a distinguished 27-year career in the Armed Forces, where she excelled in key command, leadership, training, and personnel development roles.

As a military Private Secretary, Nicky was integral to the Government’s operations, supporting the Secretary of State for Defence during critical missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, and during the ‘Foot and Mouth’ crisis in Cumbria.

Nicky honed her leadership skills through various command positions, including Training Company Commander, Training Regiment Commander, and Director of her Army Branch. Notably, as the Army Capability Director with the rank of Brigadier, she was the highest-ranking woman in the Army. In this role, she oversaw the leadership and performance standards of 4,500 officers and soldiers and implemented significant business changes.

In 2012, Nicky transitioned from the Army to establish “What Good Leadership Looks Like.” This venture focuses on helping organizations and companies refine their leadership approaches and navigate change, sharing practical techniques and tools she utilized to build high-performing, empowered teams. She supports executive teams and individuals through leadership coaching and mentoring.

In 2018, Nicky debuted on television as a military advisor for the BBC/Netflix series “Churchill’s Secret Agents: The New Recruits,” where she assessed and trained participants using the wartime syllabus of the Special Operations Executive (SOE).

Currently, Nicky works across diverse sectors such as financial services, oil and energy, transport, media, technology, and law. Her services include keynote speaking, designing and delivering leadership training programs, and providing coaching and mentoring.

Recently, in what she describes as ‘food for the soul,’ Nicky contributed to the creative teams behind the English National Opera’s 2018 production of Benjamin Britten’s “War Requiem” and Chichester Festival Theatre’s 2021 production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.”
