About Sarah Ann Macklin

Sarah Ann Macklin is a dynamic figure in the realms of health, nutrition, and advocacy. As the founder of the widely recognised podcast Live Well Be Well and the visionary behind the Be Well Collective, she has made a significant impact on the wellness industry. A registered nutritionist, TEDx speaker, international model, and respected health journalist, Sarah’s contributions span multiple fields.

At just 15, Sarah was discovered by a leading London modelling agency and quickly thrust into the glamorous world of high fashion in New York. She graced the covers of Harper’s and Vogue and became the face of several high-profile campaigns. However, the harsh realities of the fashion industry, marked by a lack of compassion and empathy, took a toll on her health. A turning point came when Sarah’s deteriorating health led to an emergency hospital visit, prompting her to reconsider her career. This pivotal moment inspired her to leave the high-fashion world and pursue her passion for nutrition. Despite the challenges posed by dyslexia, she earned a first-class degree in nutrition through sheer determination.

Sarah’s commitment to mental health led her to establish the Be Well Collective, a not-for-profit organisation focused on preventative mental health support. Her podcast, Live Well Be Well, is one of the UK’s leading health podcasts, featuring exclusive discussions with renowned scientists and health experts. Through this platform, Sarah has shared invaluable insights and gained widespread recognition.

Her influence also extends to the political arena, where she has presented crucial dietary findings at the European Parliament, particularly addressing the Type 2 diabetes epidemic. Her book, The Great British Veg Out, sparked a national campaign for healthier eating, garnering support from public figures like Gary Barlow and Victoria Pendleton. As a consultant, she has advised top brands such as the Ennismore Group and Farmstand restaurant, while also working with high-profile clients, including magazine editors, pop stars, actors, and C-suite executives, even collaborating with Netflix.

Sarah’s personal experiences in the modelling industry, particularly the lack of nutritional guidance, motivated her to establish the Be Well Collective. This initiative has positively impacted thousands of young people through educational summits, workshops, mentoring programmes, and online resources. Her TEDx talk, “Are models, role models?” highlights her powerful public speaking skills on physical and mental health, further cementing her reputation. Sarah’s articles in prestigious publications like the Financial Times, Telegraph, and Harper’s Bazaar reflect her dedication to helping individuals lead healthier lives.

Sarah’s battle with dyslexia has not only shaped her approach to learning and communication but has also fuelled her advocacy for recognising and celebrating neurodiverse talents. Her journey through personal mental health challenges in the high-pressure modelling world underscores her deep commitment to mental wellness. Launching her career at 15, Sarah has emerged as a trailblazer, both in fashion and as a female leader, driving transformative change in traditionally rigid industries. Over the past decade, she has taken her expertise in nutrition to the European Parliament, run a successful clinic, and advised numerous brands, all while demonstrating resilience in overcoming challenges and founding two impactful organisations.
