Monica’s talent caught the attention of Michel Roux Jr., who offered her a position at his prestigious two-Michelin starred restaurant, Le Gavroche. Starting as a first commis, Monica rapidly advanced through the kitchen ranks, becoming the first woman to hold the senior sous-chef position in the restaurant’s fifty-year history. She was also appointed head chef and played a key role in launching Le Gavroche Tropiques in Mauritius.

Monica’s television career began while she was still at Le Gavroche, working alongside Michel Roux Jr. Her approachable yet no-nonsense judging style on MasterChef endeared her to audiences. After more than a decade at Le Gavroche, she left to open her own acclaimed restaurant, Mere.

Beyond the kitchen, Monica has appeared on various television shows, including Further Back in Time for Dinner, The One Show, and Pointless Celebrities. She is also an accomplished author, having written three books: Monica’s Kitchen, The Skills: How to Become an Expert Chef in Your Own Kitchen, and At Home, where she shares her favorite recipes for relaxed, home-style cooking. Monica continues to inspire both professional chefs and home cooks alike with her passion for food and dedication to her craft.
